Thursday,20th October,2016 will go into the memories of many who attended the special staff-students seminar at the Law Faculty of Chancellor College.This event was organised by the Disability Rights Programme of the Faculty which is coordinated by Dr Enoch Chilemba. Present at the seminar was Mr Ian Simbota who is an executive board member of the Association for Persons with Albinism in Malawi(APAM), Mrs Perpetual Mtamula who represented the Federation of Persons with Disabilities in Malawi (FEDOMA), Her Worship Edna Zakaliya, a magistrate of Mulunguzi Court and members of staff and students of the Law Faculty and other Faculties of Chancellor College.There were also media representatives from Zodiak Radio Station,Times Media Group,YONECO FM and Chanco Television.
Henry Chizimba, a second year Law student presented on "The Utilisation of the Concept of Property in Property Law and Constructive Trust Against Human Organs Dealers" and Kondwani D. Kumitengo, a fourth year law student presented on "The Prevention of Violence Against Persons With Albinism in Malawi: Exploring Appropriate Legislative Response." These presentations led to a plenary discusssion in which the members passionately aired out their views,suggestions and recomendations on the problem of violence against persons with albinism in Malawi. Poetry recitals by Phindu Banda and Matthias Kafere spiced up the event. At the close of the seminar the members had a group photo which was followed by some refreshments.
